Toro Canyon/Westlake Hills
This relatively new home in a lush natural setting was stripped of its gaudy decoration & transformed into a serene & simple space for a family of four. A quiet palette of color & texture was employed to integrate the interior with the exterior, & to work as a backdrop for a sophisticated collection of contemporary art & Eastern artifacts. Bamboo, mica, sisal, seeded glass, & woven metal were used to complement the existing ledge stone; lacquered metal & handmade tile gave the newly reconfigured kitchen warmth & weight. A significant family room replaced the three-car garage. New guest quarters/garage, artist’s studio, & sport court were added to the original structure.
